* 14K GOLD: Pure (24k) gold is too soft and has insufficient
strength for wide use in jewelry, and must be alloyed with other metals
to be useful. 14k gold is thus a set of alloys, all of which contain 14 parts of
pure gold out of a
total of 24 parts, i.e., just under 60% pure gold. The color of the resulting
metal depends on what other metals are added, and ranges from
"white gold" (alloy with nickel) to a red color (copper) and a
green color (silver). However, the most common 14k gold alloys are
yellow, containing some copper, zinc, and silver. Most of the Pandora 14k
gold jewelry is made from the widely-used yellow alloy designated 'F'.
